UPDATE: Guilty plea entered by former Scott County officer on embezzlement, fraud charges
A former Scott County, Virginia deputy who waived his federal indictment last month pleaded guilty to embezzlement and wire fraud.
An FBI and Virginia State Police investigation determined Jeff Spicer unlawfully claimed overtime hours funded by the DMV that netted him more than $20,000. Spicer also developed a court monitoring scheme that not only had another company do the work for him and funnel him cash but also solicit nude photos and sex from female prisoners in exchange for false probation reports filed with Circuit Court officials.
He faces up to 20 years in prison. A sentencing date had not been set as of Tuesday afternoon.
