Sullivan County Commissioners Requesting School Board Fund Teacher Salary Increase
Sullivan County education employees could see a raise next month if the school board approves a resolution by county commissioners requesting the school board approve a one percent salary increase. Commissioner Herschel Glover sponsored the resolution and says the raise is a start in the right direction for teachers and education employees system wide.
(: )…when you look at the surrounding cities and surrounding counties, Sullivan County is about the tenth or eleventh largest county in the state of Tennessee. Starting pay for our teachers I don’t think is in balance with the other areas.
The resolution will be considered by the Board of Education. The funds would come from the School Board’s surplus account.
