New Program at UVA-Wise to provide free college to Virginia students who’s families make less than $40,000 per year
Students in Virginia planning to attend UVA-Wise next fall that come from families who make under $40,000 per year will be able to attend college for free.
A new initiative titled “UVA Wise Within Reach” is a continued mission from school leaders to provide affordable education for all Commonwealth residents. School officials say many of their students are not only first generation students, they also receive more than 80 percent state and federal financial aid. The college is considering ways to combine state and federal financial aid with private scholarships offered to help make the new Within Reach program work.
To be eligible, students must be full time, receive in-state tuition, live in Virginia, and will need to complete their FAFSA form as well as be enrolled by the college by February 15th.
