Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Injured, Cited For Following Too Closely In Wednesday Morning Crash
A Scott County Virginia Sheriff’s Deputy was injured, along with one other driver while the deputy and two others have been cited for following too closely after a five vehicle crash sends two people to a hospital for treatment of serious but non life threatening injuries. The accident occurred Wednesday morning just after seven thirty on Nickelsville Highway and Route 671. A 2018 Subaru was traveling north when it slowed for a deer and was struck by a 2017 Dodge Charger driven by 28 year old Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Hass. Hass’ Charger then struck a 2005 Toyota Corolla head on, driven by 38 year old Jessica Burke of Nickelsville. A 2007 Ford F-150 Driven by 48 year old Anthony Layton of Castlewood was struck in the rear by the Toyota. Hass and 49 year old Mark Greer of Lebanon were both injured with non life threatening injuries. Meanwhile, Hass, Layton and Burke were all three cited with a summons for following too closely. The crash remains under investigation.
