Crews Identify kayaker that overturned on lake in Russell County, VA

Emergency crews in Russell County, Virginia have identified a missing kayaker who overturned on Laurel Bed Lake.

According to the Russell County Emergency Management, rescue operations were unsuccessful yesterday after a day of searching for the missing kayaker, later identified by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries as David Glidewell, 38. The emergency management suspects high winds may have caused the kayak to capsize. Additional resources like dive teams and small boats with sonar have been requested and are expected to arrive later Friday morning.
