Domestic violence convict found guilty of possessing a firearm in Wise County
A Wise County man with two prior domestic violence convictions has been found guilty by a federal grand jury of possessing a firearm.
Court records show Dwayne Andre Adams, 38, of Wise, was arrested a day after police said he fired multiple shots at his wife at their residence. Investigators recovered a .45-caliber handgun and a protective order was issued.
Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring said they will continue to use every tool to take guns away from violent offenders and domestic abusers.
Adams faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in US District Court in Abingdon on Feb. 26.
