UPDATE: Gate City man dies from injuries sustained in November crash

A man who was critically injured in a crash last month in Scott County has died from his injuries.

A report from the Virginia State Police said Richard M. Bird, 72, of Gate City, had been hospitalized since the Nov. 22 wreck on Route 870. Investigators said Bird’s SUV went off the road, up an embankment, and then overturned several times, ejecting Bird out of the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
