TDOT: State Route 70 in Hawkins County reopening following nearly year long repair from landslides

State Route 70 in Hawkins County is back to operational status Thursday morning.

According to officials with TDOT, the slide repair project has reached a point to where all lanes have reopened, however, commuters may experience one lane status at various times while crews finish up final repairs. Motorists are advised to use caution if traveling in this area. State Route 70 had been closed since February along with State Route 66 due to heavy rains that washed away portions of the roadway.
