Tennessee Announcing Steps To Use Huge Surplus For State’s Needy Programs
It was recently reported, the state of Tennessee has a surplus of more than 340 million dollars in funds for the state’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. Now the Department of Human Services in Tennessee is announcing next steps for investing those surplus funds. Human Services has already obligated 56 million dollars in grant monies for the needy. In addition, approximately 30 million dollars will be invested to expand resources and collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Education for expansion of family resource centers. The department also plans to invest more than 80 million dollars in programming that supports various programs for the state’s needy.
