UPDATE: Mayor confirms Sullivan County Building Commissioner behind wheel in fatal crash

An official has confirmed that a county-owned SUV was involved in a fatal crash Monday near Kingsport.

Sullivan County Mayor Richard Venable told SuperTalk that Building Commissioner Tim Earles was behind the wheel and still on the job when the wreck occurred on Highway 126. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said in a preliminary report that charges were pending against Earles, 63, in the head-on collision that killed Katherine Keene Doyle, 53, of Johnson City.
