SCSO: Jail Inmate and girlfriend charged in alleged credit card scheme
A Sullivan County jail inmate and his girlfriend are charged in a reported credit card scheme.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says they were informed by a victim on December 3rd of fraudulent activity on his credit card account and payments had reportedly been made to a jail inmate phone system provider. An investigation found that the victim’s family member suspect Anthony Ennis, 29, and his girlfriend Savanna Hutson, 19 had allegedly made arrangements to place funds in Ennis’s account as well as several other inmates accounts.
In total, 54 fraudulent transactions of over $2,000 were made over a two week period. Both have been charged with 54 counts of identity theft, 54 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and theft under $2,500.00. Additionally, during a traffic stop, authorities arrested Hutson on an active warrant, and placed other charges on her, including possession of methamphetamine. Both remain in jail.
