Former VP of Manufacturing Plant in Bluefield, VA convicted on Failing to Pay Taxes, Wire Fraud, and Making False Statements
A former executive vice president of a manufacturing plant in Southwest Virginia has been convicted of failing to pay taxes, wire fraud, and making false statements.
Teresa Barringer, former vice president of J&R Manufacturing in Tazewell County, was found guilty last week in federal court in Abingdon. Trial evidence says Barringer failed to pay $175,000 in payroll taxes withheld from employees, while also fraudulently obtaining over $360,000 from her 401K plan for false claims of fear of foreclosure and representation of her last day of employment, which included lying to federal agents about details in the case.
She is tentatively scheduled for sentencing March 10th.
