Cleanup underway after diesel spill Monday morning in Russell County, VA
Emergency crews in Russell County, Virginia have started clean up efforts following a diesel spill that started Monday morning on Route 63.
According to the Russell County, Virginia Emergency Management, numerous crews were called to a ruptured coal truck around 6:40 a.m that was spilling fuel into surrounding communities like St Paul and into Lick Creek near Dante (daint). The Russell County EMA says the spill was contained by 11:00 a.m, and the roadway was reopened after the truck was removed from the incident.
No injuries were reported, and officials say they expect to possibly have the entire scene cleaned up by Friday.
