UPDATE: Chilhowie man indicted for abduction

A grand jury in Smyth County has indicted a Chilhowie man for abducting a woman and her children in October.

Police arrested Charles Eugene Dykes, 46, after the victim was able to contact family members for help. Investigators said Dykes and his girlfriend picked up the victim after a fight with her husband. Once at Dykes home, the woman was told she would be carrying the couple’s baby, would make videos for his customers and sell drugs. Dykes remains jailed awaiting trial on four counts of abduction by force.

Dykes’ girlfriend, Casey Renee Hinkley, was also indicted on the same charges, according to court information.
