JCPD: Simply Mac Employee arrested for alleged theft of store items
An employee of Simply Mac at the Johnson City Mall is a facing theft charge after allegedly taking several items from the store valued close to $20,000.
An investigation by the Johnson City Police started due a string of thefts from the store, where another employee found 26 items to be unaccounted for. These items included 20 IPhones, a Macbook, two Ipads, cables and a case. This led to questioning of employee and suspect Robert Swatzell, 36, of Elizabethton, who according to the police report, admitted to taking the missing items.
The report also stated that Swatzell had recently performed unusual tasks in the store.
Swatzell was charged with one count of theft of property over $10,000. He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond, and is scheduled for a court appearance tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
