Unicoi County Sergeant stops wrong way driver on I-26

Unicoi County Sheriff Mike Hensley says one of his sergeants prevented another tragedy on Interstate 26 when an arrest was made on an individual going the wrong way.

A social media post from Hensley says Sergeant Jacob Marshal located a wrong way driver Sunday and was able to stop the individual, who was reportedly impaired, and in possession of drugs and a firearm. The driver was arrested and transported to the Unicoi County jail.

This incident comes just 10 days after Army Culinary specialist Anthony Owens and 1-year old son Richard were killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 26 in Erwin.
