Hancock County Continues To Struggle With Child Well Being
Hancock County in Northeast Tennessee has the lowest median household income in the Volunteer State and at 42 point six percent, the county also has the second highest rate of child poverty among the state’s 95 counties. According to a report from the Tennessee Commission on children and Youth, Hancock County has the highest rate of neonatal abstinence syndrome cases in Tennessee. In addition, the County’s per capita personal income of just over 26 thousand dollars a year also ranks near the bottom of the state.
