Congressman Phil Roe Will Not Seek A Seventh Term…Announces His Retirement
After six terms in office, First District Congressman, Dr. Phil Roe is announcing he is not seeking another term in office. Congressman Roe made the announcement Friday morning in a letter thanking the district for giving him the opportunity to represent East Tennessee. Roe says serving the past eleven years has been the honor of his life. Roe was selected to chair the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in 2017 and was a senior member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee. Roe’s announcement is expected to launch a large response of potential Republican candidates for the August 2020 primary election.
