JC Commission approves second ordinance reading of designation of boundaries for proposed regional retail and tourism development district
Commissioners in Johnson City have voted yes a second time for an ordinance for designation of boundaries of a proposed regional retail and tourism development district in the Boones Creek area.
The district was part of an approved bill in the 2019 General Assembly granting local governments to recruit developers to bring businesses to the district, in exchange for a tax revenue incentive from the state. The Boones Creek area proposed appears to check all boxes required in the bill, including how a site can be no larger than 950 acres and no further than one half mile from the interstate.
The ordinance needs just one more approval from commissioners before being sent off to the state for final approval.
