Bristol Virginia Man Pleads Guilty To Hefty Methamphetamine…Handgun Charges
A Bristol Virginia man pleads guilty to Methamphetamine and firearms charges in U.S. District Court in Abingdon, Virginia. 43 year old David Benjamin Shaffer was arrested in September of 2018 after a traffic stop by Drug Enforcement agents, Washington County Sheriff’s deputies and Abingdon Police. Authorities found approximately 70 grams of methamphetamine in Shaffer’s vehicle. Agents also discovered Shaffer was armed with a 40 caliber handgun. Shaffer will be sentenced in March and faces a ten year mandatory minimum term of imprisonment and a potential sentence of life in prison and more than eight million dollars in fines.
