US labor officials rule in favor in worker in whistleblower suit against TVA
The Tennessee Valley Authority plans to appeal a ruling by the US Department of Labor that awarded $200,000 in back pay to a nuclear engineer who was fired after voicing safety and personnel concerns.
The decision also orders the TVA to restore Beth Wetzel’s job status and pay her legal fees. Wetzel began her complaint in 2016 which included alleged violations of worker fatigue rules. The Associated Press noted that this is the fourth TVA nuclear worker to claim retaliation in the past year.
