Virginia lawmakers revisiting $15 per hour minimum wage increase for upcoming legislative session
A Virginia lawmaker is pushing a bill to eventually make the minimum wage in the state $15 per hour.
District 92 House Delegate Jeion Ward has introduced the bill for the upcoming legislative session, which if passed, would see changes to the minimum wage in the Commonwealth over the next four years. The passage of this minimum wage bill would see wages increase to $9 this year, $11 per hour in 2021, $13 per hour in 2022, and finally $15 per hour in 2023.
A similar bill introduced in the Virginia Senate failed in last year’s General Assembly by a vote of 21-19.
