Suspect captured following chase that went from Tennessee into Virginia
A man is facing several charges after police say he led a pursuit from Tennessee into Virginia.
According to the Scott County, VA Sheriff’s Office, deputies with the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office were pursuing a stolen vehicle Monday, and as the suspect entered into Scott County, a deputy with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips. One passenger exited the moving vehicle and was detained. The driver, later identified as Austin Blake Burchfield, attempted to flee on foot after driving down a hill, but was also detained. Methamphetamine, marijuana, and klonopin were found in the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Burchfield faces several charges, while the juvenile passenger was wanted in Tennessee for armed carjacking.
