Sullivan County Commission approves resolution for support of saving Appy League from being eliminated
Sullivan County Commissioners have approved a resolution to ask Major League Baseball to consider saving the Appalachian League from being eliminated.
This concern has been on the minds of many local leaders following recent reports of a proposal by Major League Baseball to end 42 minor league affiliations, which would include Appalachian League teams, for cost saving measures.
Despite the county only housing one of the ten league squads, the commission says the Appalachian League is a viable resource, bringing in annually $749,000 in economic activity.
