Virginia Senators Urging For expedited Review Of State’s Hemp Regulations
Industrial Hemp presents an unprecedented opportunity for Virginia producers…that’s according to both Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine of Virginia. The two lawmakers are now urging the U.S. Department of Agriculture to expedite its review of Virginia’s plans to regulate hemp production in order to provide sufficient time for the General Assembly to update the Commonwealth’s hemp laws and address any potential deficiencies that may arise following the review. Virginia is poised to be a top producer of the plant that’s estimated to be used in more than 25 thousand products. More than 1 thousand two hundred growers are now registered to produce an estimated two thousand two hundred acres of industrial hemp in Virginia.
