Minor league task force introduces congressional resolution urging MLB not to move forward with proposal to eliminate certain clubs

Members of a task force created to save minor league baseball from proposed eliminations of certain clubs has introduced a bi-partisan congressional resolution that urges Major League Baseball to keep its current minor league structure.

A current proposal from the MLB calls for ending 42 minor league affiliations, including 9 of the 10 Appalachian league teams, several of which call the Tri-Cities and Southwest Virginia home. Tennessee Congressman Phil Roe is one of many members of Congress who have expressed opposition to restructuring the league.

In the resolution, it backs evidence such as large attendance figures and support of clubs towards their respective communities as just a few reasons to encourage MLB not to move forward with the change.
