Two Vehicle Crash In Lee County Involving Deputy Leaves One Dead…Deputy Injured
One person is dead and a Lee County Sheriffs Deputy is seriously injured after a two vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Lee County. According to Virginia State Police, the accident occurred when the Deputy was responding with his lights and siren on to an emergency call for service while traveling east on highway 58 when a vehicle pulled out in front of the cruiser. The deputy swerved to avoid the vehicle, but the two vehicles collided in the westbound lanes in the 48 thousand block of Veterans Memorial Highway near Dryden. The deputy received serious, but non life threatening injuries. The so far unidentified driver of the other vehicle succumbed to his injuries. Virginia State Police continue the investigation.
