Virginia DOC Recidivism Rates Continue To Lead The Country
For the fourth consecutive year, the Virginia Department of Corrections is reporting the Commonwealth has the lowest recidivism rate in the United States. While tying with South Carolina, Virginia’s rate remains the lowest among the 42 states reporting three year recidivism rates. Contributing to Virginia’s leading rate are effective re-entry services, educational programming, treatment offered in the DOC facilities as well as effective supervision by probation and parole officers.
