Report: Man convicted of attempted murder cited for assaulting officer after he hits Hawkins County deputy with can of beer
A Hawkins County man convicted for a shooting in a local park was arrested after he assaulted a police officer serving a warrant.
A report from Sheriff Ronnie Lawson’s office says Marcus Antonio Curry, 36, reportedly struck the deputy with a can of beer after the officer forced his way into Curry’s home on Old Highway 70. Curry then had to be tazed with a phazzer then struck in the head and ribs after he refused the policeman’s commands to surrender, according to the report.
He is charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and a parole violation. Curry was found guilty of two counts of attempted first-degree murder in 2010 for firing shots at a man over a drug dispute inside Swift Park in Rogersville.
