UPDATE: Former Burton football coach Adams terminated by Norton City Schools

The Norton City School Board has voted to follow the recommendation of Superintendent Gina Wohlford and terminate the job of J.I. Burton High School teacher and former head football coach James Adams.

He was employed at the Southwest Virginia school for more than two decades but was suspended with pay following an investigation by state child services into sexual harassment claims brought by two students. Adams remains the focus of a separate investigation by the Virginia State Police at the request of the school system.
