TN State Rep. Van Huss “Fake News” resolution advancing in General Assembly
“To use this government and his position in that manner to push his political agenda and his views upon everyone else is wrong.”
District 35 TN Rep. Bo Mitchell challenging a resolution brought forth by local leader District 6 Rep. Micah Van Huss, of Jonesborough, that seeks to have Tennessee recognize CNN and the Washington Post as fake news while condemning them for their reporting of President Donald Trump and denigrating citizens.
Mitchell says he shocked that Van Huss would bring forth such a resolution considering Van Huss’s military service, which Mitchell says defending the nation’s rights doesn’t exclude certain parts of the constitution, it includes all parts like freedom of speech. Van Huss however, reiterated his stance saying this:
“When I vote for this resolution, i’m going to be speaking on behalf of my constituents who are tired of elitists in the media denigrating them.”
During Tuesday’s House Constitutional and Protections Sentencing Subcommittee meeting, the resolution passed, and now moves to the House judiciary committee.
