Ballad CEO’s Appointment To State Education Commission…Put On Hold
Not so fast, those are the comments of Democratic State Represenative Gloria Johnson of Knoxville, who objected to Ballad Health CEO Alan Levine’s appointment to the Public Charter School Commission. Johnson referred to a 2012 addition of Sixty Minutes episode that questioned Levine’s former employer, Health Management Associates for allegations of medicare fraud. Levine was recommended to the post by Governor Bill Lee. Republican Represenative Mark White of Memphis came to Levine’s defense and moved to table the issue for two weeks. The house followed White’s recommendation.
