NEW: Sheriff says emergency personnel searching an area of North Carolina for baby Evelyn
Sullivan County, Tennessee Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said at a Wednesday press conference that he was informed that emergency personnel is currently exploring an area of Wilkes County, North Carolina in relation to the case of missing toddler Evelyn Boswell.
According to a report from television station WSOC, authorities were looking near a pond just north of Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
Cassidy also stated that the baby’s mother Megan Boswell has given a different story every time she has spoken with investigators. She appeared video conferencing in Bristol Sessions Court for arraignment on one charge of false reporting.
Wilkes County, North Carolina is the locality where Megan’s mother Angela Boswell, 42, and her boyfriend, William McCloud, 33, were arrested Friday on charges placed in Sullivan County for theft of a 2007 BMW.
Angela Boswell was extradited back to Tennessee earlier this week, according to authorities.
The sheriff emphasized that he and his department are currently treating the case as Evelyn is alive.
