City of Kingsport confirms community service worker killed while collecting trash on Interstate 26
UPDATE, 5:30 p.m.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the victim in Friday’s crash on Interstate 26 as Anita Williams, 62, of Norton, Virginia.

A preliminary investigation shows a woman was trying to cross Interstate 26 Friday afternoon when she was hit by a vehicle and died from her injuries.
The City of Kingsport confirmed in a statement that the 62-year-old female victim and community service worker was out collecting trash in the vicinity of the Tennessee Welcome Center.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
