More Than One Hundred Organizations Asking Congress To Get To Work For Struggling Coal Localities
Over one hundred organizations in southwest Virginia and across the Commonwealth have signed onto a letter urging Congressional House leadership to support legislation critical to coal communities and struggling miners. The organizations are asking congress to prioritize several bills that would aid coal impacted communities throughout Appalachia. The bills have stalled in Congress, despite bipartisan support. The organizations are asking congress to take action on several issues including a huge 422 million dollar abandoned Mine Land Trust Fund, that would assist southwest Virginia localities struggling to clean up abandoned mine sites.
