Virginia Budget Proposal Calls For Raises And Bonuses For Teachers And State Employees
Lawmakers in Virginia have unveiled their latest 135 billion dollar, two year state budget proposal and it includes raises and bonuses for state employees and public school teachers. Teacher pay is a hot button in the Commonwealth, as teachers have been pressing lawmakers for significant new increases. The proposal includes the state’s share of two percent raises for pubic school teachers for the next two years, while many other state employees would receive a three percent bonus this year and another three percent raise the following year. Lawmakers are expected to give final approval on Thursday of this week.
