House Veterans Affairs Committee Passes Multiple Pot Bills
Veterans in our region often return from duty with mental and physical ailments. The House Veterans Affairs Committee passed two separate pieces of legislation pertaining to marijuana policies that could benefit those veterans. House Bill 712 would direct the Veterans Administration to conduct research on marijuana in regards to a wide variety of ailments associated with service related issues. Meanwhile, House Bill 1647 would allow doctors to fill out the state legal medical marijuana recommendations. According to a poll conducted by the American Legion, 22 percent of veterans said they use marijuana to treat a mental or physical condition.
