UPDATE: Two dead after early morning shooting in Elizabethton

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office is now reporting two people have died following a shooting early Thursday in Elizabethton.

Officers arrived at a residence on Jim Rains Road and found Lori Elliott, 40, dead on arrival from her wounds. A man at the home, Corey Montez Bryson, 40, was also wounded and taken to a hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The report from Sheriff Dexter Lunceford says his office is still trying to determine how and why the shooting occurred. The bodies have been sent for an autopsy.
