Hawkins County Joining Others…Safer At Home Declaration

Following the decision made by several localities in our region, Hawkins County Mayor Jim Lee is also declaring a State of Local Emergency beginning Tuesday . The decision by Mayor Lee gives him certain powers as allowed by law. Under the declaration, political subdivisions of government, both city and county will now have the ability to waive procedures relative to performance of pubic works and taking whatever prudent action is necessary to ensure the health, safety and welfare of Hawkins County citizens. The order is in effect for seven days and will be re-evaluated at that time.
