Coronavirus Funding Headed To Southwest Virginia And The Rest Of Commonwealth
Public Safety Agencies in southwest Virginia and the rest of the Commonwealth are set to receive funds to respond to the challenges caused by the COVID-19 crisis. Authorized by the recent stimulus legislation, the sixteen million dollars will be shared by public safety agencies across the state and will help fund overtime, training, travel expenses, personal protective equipment for medical personnel and first responders as well as the needs of state prisoners. The funding comes in the form of grants provided by the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding program.
