Travel to be impacted in Kingsport due to paving projects on Interstate 81 and 26

Two paving projects on Interstates 26 and 81 in Kingsport will likely cause delays and lane closures beginning this weekend.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation plans to resurface six miles of Interstate 81 from the Tri Cities Airport exit at 63 to the Blountville exit at mile marker 69.

TDOT has also scheduled road work in the Eastern Star area at mile markers 8 and 9 on Interstate 26. The agency said the paving will continue through Tuesday, April 7 weather permitting.
