Tri-Cities and Southwest VA Airports receiving funding through CARES Act
Several airports across our region getting help from the federal government as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
According to the Federal Avaiation Adminstration, the bill provides $10 billion in relief funds to eligible airports who are affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Locally, a large list of airports in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia have been awarded funds.
Below are airports receiving funding from the FAA in Northeast TN:
Tri-Cities Airport (Blountville, TN)- $10,300,692
Elizabethton Municipal Airport (Elizabethton, TN)- $69,000
Johnson County Airport (Mountain City, TN)- $30,000
Greeneville-Greene County Municipal Airport (Greeneville, TN)- $30,000
Below are airports receiving funding from the FAA in Southwest VA:
Virginia Highlands Airport (Abingdon, VA)- $69,000
Jonesville Airport (Lee County, VA)- $20,000
Richlands Airport (Tazewell County, VA)- $20,000
Mountain Empire Airport (Smyth County, VA)- $30,000
Lonesome Pine Airport (Wise County, VA)- $30,000
