Education commissioner gives green lights to Tennessee graduations with stipulations
A huge percentage of families agree: despite schools closing for the year in Tennessee, they still want that rite of passage.
“We know students, their families, schools, communities—they all want to be able to celebrate. Celebrate the hard work of our students, but most importantly, celebrate the hard work of our graduating seniors.”
So Tennessee Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has given guidance to city and county school systems for either virtual or in-person graduation ceremonies at their discretion in the coming months with a number of safety and health guidelines attached.
Some suggestions from the state include having those events at football stadiums, drive-ins, or featuring individualized events.
