UVA-Wise schedules commencement ceremony for October 4th
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise has announced they will be holding their commencement ceremony in October.
Chancellor Donna Henry said in a statement that they have planned to hold an in-person graduation event on Sunday October 4th at the David J. Prior Convocation Center, but will also hold a live streamed virtual ceremony scheduled for May 9th, that was originally suppose to be the day of graduation for UVA-Wise students.
Officials say they will look at other dates for graduation should the COVID-19 pandemic evolve. The College plans to distribute caps and gowns to graduates so the Class of 2020 can move forward with traditional graduation photographs. Students that live near the school will receive an email with instructions for times to pick up the caps and gowns.
Students who live far away from the campus will receive their caps and gowns in the mail. Local students will have the opportunity to pick up their packet from campus or from the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Virginia on designated days.
