JC Farmers Market starting season Saturday, State Street Farmers Market delaying start of season
Two regional farmers markets have made a decision on whether they will reopen following recent orders to allow the reopening of certain businesses in TN.
Starting in Johnson City, the city’s farmer market will open this Saturday from 9 a.m to 1 p.m and encourages shoppers to follow several guidelines like wearing face masks, avoid touching any items, and properly sanitizing hands, bags and produce when they get home. Full guidelines can be found in the photo below.
Leaders in Bristol have decided to delay the start of their 2020 season, but organizers are working on a plan to safely reopen the market.
“It’s been our long-standing tradition to open the Farmer’s Market on the first Saturday in May, and it’s become one of those things people look forward to each spring,” said Recreation Superintendent Mike Musick of Bristol, Tennessee’s Department of Parks and Recreation. “Although businesses in our community are beginning to open again, we decided to keep the market closed until we determine the safest way to bring our customers and vendors together.”
Musick says he is in close contact with vendors and, until the market opens, will be using the market’s Facebook page, available here, to advertise the items available and purchase options.
