‘Optimistic’ estimate for COVID-19 vaccine by Vanderbilt researchers is summer 2021
A recent study by Vanderbilt’s School of Medicine Health Policy division says an optimistic estimate would have a COVID-19 vaccine available by summer of 2021.
Their generated models show four phases of development with a second step of safety testing and immune response using 100 to 1,000 participants taking place in June and July.
The Vanderbilt report tempers expectations with prior studies showing only 90 percent of vaccines in clinical studies ever make it to licensure.
