Telemental Health Seeing Uptick In Services During COVID-19 Crisis
It’s no secret the COVID-19 pandemic is causing an uptick in the use of telehealth services as health care providers treat many patients virtually. And the same holds true for individuals who need mental health services as officials in Virginia have seen a 600 percent jump since the COVID-19 crisis began. The State of Virginia has tasked the Appalachian Telemental Health Network, housed at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise to increase access to mental health services in southwest Virginia. The health network is funded by the General Assembly and establishes a behavioral and mental health network to the underserved Appalachian Counties via telehealth services.
