One in custody after 14-year-old shot in Kingsport
A Sevier County man has been arrested following an early morning shooting in Kingsport.
Police say they were called to Westfield Avenue around 6:30 a.m Thursday for a reported shooting and found a 14-year old black male victim with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.
Investigators say suspect Lazarith Freeman, 20, of Kodak, had reportedly fled back to the Knox/Sevier County area following the alleged incident and was also wanted on charges out of Sevier County.
Several law enforcement agencies helped arrest Freeman, including the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the United States Marshals Service.
He is charged with Felony Reckless Endangerment and Tampering with Evidence. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing and no further information has been released at this time.
