UPDATE: Person of interest in Tazewell County homicide arrested

A Smyth County man who is identified as a person of interest in a Tazewell County homicide was captured Thursday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office said Gabriel Layne Perry of Saltville is a potential suspect in a murder at a home in Tannersville and a malicious wounding incident in Thompson Valley.

U.S. Marshals and the Virginia State Police assisted in Perry’s capture.
