VDH: Two Southwest VA counties remain free of COVID-19 cases two months after first reported case
Thursday marks two months since the first COVID-19 case was reported in VA, and just three counties remain free of the virus as of this morning, including two counties in SWVA.
Bland and Dickenson counties have yet to report a single coronavirus case, despite every locality around them reporting at least two cases or more. Bath County, which borders West Virginia and sits in the middle part of the state, is the only other county without a case.
As of Thursday, Southwest VA saw a 15 case increase from Tuesday totals to 199 total cases, including new cases in Carroll County, Galax, Russell County, and Washington County. Thursday totals from the state department report 21,570 cases, 2,995 hospitalizations, 769 deaths, and 2,825 statewide coronavirus patients discharged from the hospital.
